Charity funding brings festive activities to Bamburgh Clinic
Throughout December, a programme of planned activities took place across the clinic, these were festive activities such as Christmas card making and Christmas bauble making.
In August this year, several central Inpatient wards moved from the Hadrian Clinic into the newly refurbished Bamburgh Clinic. The move into a bright, welcoming environment has created new opportunities to make full use of both ward-based and shared spaces to support meaningful patient activities.
Throughout December, a programme of planned activities took place across the clinic, with some sessions delivered within individual wards and others held in shared spaces. Funding for these activities was secured through the Tranwell fund via CNTW Charity, ensuring that each ward had the specific resources they needed to deliver engaging and inclusive sessions. The importance of activities in supporting patient recovery is well recognised, and the charity played a vital role in making these opportunities possible.
Both patients and staff have shared very positive feedback. Festive activities such as Christmas card making created moments of fun and laughter, while Christmas bauble making showcased some wonderful decorative and sewing skills among our patients.
The month concluded with a Bamburgh Clinic Christmas Carol Service on Tuesday 16 December. Charity support enabled sweet treats to be enjoyed during the service and provided gingerbread-making kits for all wards to take part in a friendly competition. CNTW chaplains, Neil and Mathilde, judged the entries, with congratulations going to Lowry ward, who were announced as the winners.
These activities highlight the positive impact that charitable funding can have in enhancing patient experience, promoting wellbeing and supporting recovery.
