Therapeutic Activities, Walkergate Park
In 2023 the Social, Therapeutic and Recreational Rehabilitation Team (STARRT) at Walkergate Park received £5000 from SHINE to spend on activities to boost patient wellbeing on the site.
STARRT provides social and recreational rehabilitation to inpatients, working to promote independence and increase quality of life. The funding allows the team to provide additional wellbeing activities for patients alongside their care.
The activities, such as boccia and cookery groups, aim to prevent social isolation and promote confidence, self-esteem and body image amongst patients.
They can enable patients to engage in meaningful activities that they are interested in and allows the patient to have a boost in what they are able to do in a comfortable and relaxed setting
