New planters, Secure Care services
Secure Care Services courtyard gets upgrade with colourful new planters.
Patients at one of our Secure Services wards have been actively involved in enhancing their shared internal courtyard by creating two large planters, thanks to funding provided by SHINE.
The ward, managed by Debra Fairhurst, applied for the funds to allow patients to collaborate with the woodwork department in designing, building, painting, and treating the timber for the planters. Several patients took part in this hands-on project, contributing to every stage of the process, from design to installation.
The whole area has been given a revamp and become a useful and accessible area to be enjoyed by all.

These planters have not only helped patients develop valuable skills but have also instilled a sense of pride and accomplishment, knowing that their work will be enjoyed by everyone on the ward. Many of the patients have a keen interest in gardening, and these planters provide an excellent opportunity for them to pursue this hobby, further enhancing their wellbeing.
Thanks to the creativity and hard work of the patients, the courtyard has been transformed into a vibrant and inviting area, showcasing the positive impact of skill development and teamwork on patient wellbeing.
