Outdoor sports equipment, Hopewood Park

In 2023, Aldervale – CNTW’s Specialist Rehabilitation and Recovery Unit in Sunderland received funds from SHINE to purchase outdoor sports equipment.

Aldervale is an 18-bed inpatient ward for men over the age of 18 with highly complex mental health needs and challenging behaviours who require intensive rehabilitation.

The sports equipment purchased included a basketball hoop and ping pong table which have improved the ward’s courtyard space and are available for patients to use at all times, and have been particularly popular during the summer months.

The equipment has helped support individuals’ health and wellbeing, along with social inclusion, and providing exercise
