This is separate to my work as a consultant psychiatrist with crisis team within CNTW, though some patients that I assess independently go on to become patients under a crisis team within CNTW. I generally avoid seeing patients independently who are known to me and are currently under the care of the crisis team that I work with, to minimise any potential conflict of interest. I never see patients independently during my contracted working hours for CNTW. |

Myself and two other Occupational Therapists outside of this NHS Trust are signed off to teach the PRPP (Perceive Recall Plan Perform) Assessment course in the UK by the PRPP developers. The three of us have set up a partnership ('PRPP Instructors UK') and are regularly offering to teach the 5-day training course together (approx. 2-3 courses a year). I have been using annual leave/toil and occasional unpaid leave to pursue this. It is high on the agenda for our department and also for other occupational therapists within the trust to receive training in the PRPP assessment. I am conscious that we are the only UK based PRPP instructors and that I would gain financially should any of the occupational therapists from this trust attend PRPP training. The only alternative is to invite the PRPP developers to hold the training, however they are travelling in from Australia which is very costly. This year we have been invited to deliver the PRPP-Assessment course to OTs within the trust, funded through HEE, from 30.1.-3.2.2026. |

I do a small amount of private practice as a psychologist (on average approximately 2 hours per week). In this work I work with children, parents, adults individually. I usually work with people who would not meet criteria for NHS Tier 3 services and I never work with children and young people who I would work with in my clinical role in CNTW (Newcastle and Gateshead CYPS Learning Disability Pathway). However one possible indirect conflict of interest may be that I am working with a young person who is the child of a clinician who works in the wider CYPS service. I do not work directly with this clinician in my role at work. This young person is also NOT open to CNTW services and if they were in the future, this is not someone I would be working with in my role as it is not work I offer in my clinical role for CNTW and they do not have a learning disability. They found out about my private work NOT through my work in CNTW (I never advertise my work through CNTW in any way), but through a mutual friend. I would however like to raise it as an indirect conflict of interest as I appreciate it may pose an indirect conflict. |
