Working Together for Better Care
We want to improve the lives of children and young people across the North East and North Cumbria. We do this by working together, listening carefully, and providing care that’s local, personalised, and focused on what matters most to families.
Provider Collaboratives are partnerships between NHS organisations. They join forces across the region to make care better.
We don’t work alone. We team up with others to:
- Make services more consistent
- Tackle unfair differences in health
- Help people get the care they need sooner
- Use resources wisely
- Provide care that’s safer, kinder, and more effective
For children and young people, this means fewer hospital stays, more support in the community, and services shaped by their voices and experiences.
Our Aims and Aspirations
We’re a forward-thinking Collaborative with clear goals:
-
Care Closer to Home
We’re reducing the need for hospital beds and ending out-of-area placements.
-
Community Investment
We reinvest savings into local services like crisis support, home treatment, and early help.
-
Equity and Inclusion
We’re working to make care fairer and reduce differences in access and outcomes.
-
Innovation and Excellence
We’re creating new care pathways for eating disorders, autism, and complex trauma.
-
Lived Experience
We involve young people and their families, with lived experience of our services, in everything we do.
-
Collaboration Across Boundaries
We work with hospitals, schools, charities, and national experts to build joined-up care.
Get involved
We believe the best care is co-created. Whether you're a young person, parent, carer, professional, or community member—your voice matters.
There are lots of ways to get involved:
-
Join our Youth Involvement Bank
If you're aged 13-18, share your ideas and help shape services for young people.
-
Connect with our Family Ambassadors
Parents and carers, with a young person receiving inpatient care, can access support from someone who knows what you're going through.
-
Take part in our Lived Experience Advisory Group
Share your suggestions with, or become a member of our Lived Experience Advisory Group. Help us design services that truly reflect what families need.
Together, we’re building a future where every child and young person gets the right support, at the right time, in the right place.
