Northumberland Head Injuries Service (NHIS) is a specialist community based service offering health and social rehabilitation in the community.
Northumberland Head Injuries Service offers a range of services for people who have sustained a traumatic brain injury. This includes working with the patient and their families and carers to develop individual rehab plans to help people make the best possible recovery following a brain Injury. The team is made up of therapists, community practitioners and a consultant in rehabilitation medicine but also has a peer supporter, someone with lived experience of brain injury who knows and understands what it is like to live with a brain injury.
The service is available to Northumberland residents from the age of 16 years and above and takes a holistic approach offering support to the individual, their families and wider support networks.
