Castleside Day Hospital is based in Alnwood at St Nicholas Hospital in Newcastle upon Tyne. The service has 25 places providing assessment, treatment and rehabilitation by a multi disciplinary health and social care team. Includes a memory management service providing assessment, treatment, diagnosis and monitoring of medication as per shared care protocols.
Older people’s day services are open Monday to Friday from approximately 9am to 5pm (except bank holidays). The day services teams are specially trained staff with different roles and expertise.
Who is Castleside Day Hospital for?
Castleside is for older people with mental health problems arising from functional disorders such as depression, anxiety or psychosis and organic disorders such as dementia.
How can I get referred?
You can be referred by a Specialist Mental Health service, which is accessed through your GP.
