The Adult Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Service provides an assessment and treatment service for adults who are experiencing difficulty with symptoms of ADHD. The team is made up of a number of health care professionals.
Electronic Prescribing (e-Prescribing) service
From 24 March 2026, the Adult Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) service will be changing the way we issue prescriptions.
We are introducing a new Electronic Prescribing (e-Prescribing) service as part of a pilot. This means that, instead of receiving a paper prescription, your prescription will be sent electronically to a pharmacy of your choice. Many GP surgeries already do this.
We hope this change will make it quicker and easier for you to receive your medication. It will help reduce delays or lost prescriptions in the post. Our aim is to improve your overall experience and ensure you can access your medication as smoothly and promptly as possible.
Who is the Adult ADHD Service for?
The Adult ADHD Service is for men and women over the age of 18 years who have GPs in Northumberland, North Tyneside, Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland and South Tyneside and require a period of assessment and treatment.
For patients who are registered in North Cumbria: Assessments and reviews are provided by either Psychiatry UK or you have the right to choose a provider via you GP.
How can I get referred?
Your GP or another health professional can refer you for assessment if they think that you may be experiencing ADHD by writing to us.
Feedback
They’re always considerate, supportive and above all, understanding of the issues I face.
I felt that treatment was planned around my needs, not what the staff thought was best.
Thank you for the amazing care and patience I had during my assessment.
I have always been listened to and treated with respect. All the staff went out of their way to ensure I received appropriate care tailored to my individual circumstances.
