This leaflet tells you how the Chaplaincy Team can help you.

A member of staff or a carer can support you to read this booklet.  They will be able to answer any questions that you have.

How Chaplains can help you

Chaplains care about all of you

  • your body
  • your mind
  • your spirit (how you feel inside)

You can talk to a chaplain if you are:

  • worried
  • upset
  • thinking about life or meaning

You can talk to a chaplain about anything.

If you have a religion or belief, the chaplain can help with this too.  They can also pray with you.

You do not have to be religious to talk to a chaplain.

Chaplains keep your talks private but will share important health concerns with doctors.

Chaplains are part of the care team

They visit wards and work with doctors and nurses.

They belong to different faiths and help you to get support from your own community if needed.

Support when you are in hospital

There are quiet rooms and chapels at many hospitals. 

These are places where you can pray or relax.

Some hospitals have services and discussion groups. 

Staff can help you join one.
 

The ward has a box with things like holy books and prayer mats.

Ask ward staff if you want to borrow any items.

If you are a community patient you can ask for chaplain support.

Support for your family or carers

Chaplains can help your family or carers too.

If your faith community needs help to support you, a chaplain can visit them.
