Smoking Cessation

Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust (CNTW) is a smoke free trust. This means smoking is not allowed in any areas inside and outside of the hospital. If you smoke on the grounds you will be asked to stop by staff.

Making sure that NHS services are smoke free helps the health of people who use hospital services and the health of the people who work there. Smoking causes health problems and you have a bigger risk of dying at a younger age, negatively affect your mental health and worsen neurological symptoms and sleep quality.

As well as improving health, stopping will save you money and can help reduce the risk of cancer, stress and anxiety.

We appreciate that stopping smoking can be very challenging, so here are some useful resources to assist you:

  • NHS stop smoking services help you quit
Local NHS stop smoking services are free, friendly and can massively boost your chances of quitting for good.
  • Fresh – Don’t wait
