Pilot Test and Feedback

CAIT was originally developed in care homes in the North East of England, where it has been running successfully for five years. We now have 33 care homes enrolled onto the programme.

The online version of CAIT has been piloted with over 350 staff in three different settings (acute wards, care homes, mental health trusts). Feedback from the most recent pilot (9 Registered General Nurses and 1 occupational therapist) showed:

  • 100% of participants found the information useful for staff’s day to day practice
  • 100% of participants found the information presented in an effective manner
  • 100% of participants gave the highest rating of the CAIT online programme overall

Sample of feedback from the pilot test:

“I liked how it used some models of communication I knew but also introduced me to new ones.  However all linked and reinforced the same message. I liked how you can pick and choose what’s most relevant to our setting and not a strict programme.”

“Video clips are extremely useful. The entire session was delivered in a manner that was thoughtful and easy to follow and understand. Well informed after the sessions.”

“Very understanding and informative. A lot of information we can carry forward to improve every day practice and help others.”

“Over all the programme has so many tools to help up-skill staff (healthcare assistants) in language and terms they will understand. It will really help people recognise the strengths they have.”
