Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT)

What is Interpersonal Psychotherapy?

Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) is a structured talking therapy specifically for people with depression.

An IPT therapist will help you to think about how your current difficulties in relationships can fuel your depression and how depression can lead to difficulties in relationships.

Who is it for?

IPT is recommended in the NICE guidelines for people with moderate to severe depression. The model is evidence based on many scientific studies. It has been proven as an effective treatment, focuses on the here and now, and has three phases – beginning, middle and end. Depression symptoms are tracked throughout all sessions.
