It’s been a busy week for our Training Academy who have been out and about promoting National Apprenticeship Week.

On Monday 12 newly recruited apprentices attended for their first day. As well as inducting the new recruits the Vocational Team have also been visiting local schools promoting NHS apprenticeships and careers with visits to Benfield School, Gosforth Academy and Heworth Grange comprehensive.

The team have also taken part in a careers speed dating event where students have the chance to ask questions about them about their careers and the route they took into the NHS.

As well as meeting young people the vocational team have also been manning displays at St Nicholas Hospital, Walkergate Park, Monkwearmouth Hospital and Hopewood Park to promote to manager the benefits to the workplace of taking on an apprentice.

Today, Friday 9 March the team are attending Castle View Enterprise Academy presenting on the many different job roles within the NHS and the career pathways available.

I’m extremely proud of our Trust’s apprenticeship programme which has been recognised at a national level as NTW currently hold the Investor in Apprenticeship Award and we are also included in the list of the Top 100 apprenticeship employers.
