Autism Acceptance Month

Posted: 07/04/25

April is Autism Acceptance Month.

This is an annual campaign ran by the National Autistic Society to raise awareness of autism, fundraise and advocate for the acceptance of autism.

Autistic people can face discrimination and barriers across all sectors of society. This could be in health and social care systems, education, employment, and everything in between.

Did you know…?

  • 8 out of 10 autistic people experience mental health problems
  • Only 25% of autistic pupils feel happy at school
  • Only 30% of autistic people are in any type of employment

Jen Beadle, Team Manager in the Trust’s Adult Autism Diagnostic Service, said: “Autism Acceptance Month is a crucial time to raise awareness and promote understanding. We pride ourselves on delivering a quality, person-centred pathway and have a passion for advocating for newly diagnosed autistic adults. Our aim is not only to assess, but to ensure autistic people feel accepted and understood through their journey with CNTW and beyond. By working closely with carers, families and services, we hope to empower autistic people to thrive in an inclusive society.”
