National Specialist Adolescent Mood Disorders Service (NSAMS) – CNTW124

Who is the Service for?

This is a specialist service that provides second opinions for children and young people up to the age of 18 years, where there is uncertainty around a mood disorder, for example difficult to treat unipolar depression and bipolar disorder, because of complex presentations.

What does the Service do?

NSAMS is a specialist service which provides second opinions and specialist advice on management and treatment for children and young people and their families. It also works alongside local organisations, such as other NHS Trusts and local councils.

Specialist consultation clinics are tailored around the needs of the child or young person, including face to face consultation with professionals, telephone consultation and / or video liaison.

Who can refer?

Referrals are accepted from clinicians working in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) supported by a consultant psychiatrist and / or clinical psychologist involved in the child or young person’s care, after a first line assessment has been completed. If you wish to make a referral you can complete our referral form and return to us via the email on the form. For more information, please see our service brochure.
