The Neuropsychiatry Outpatient Team is a specialist, planned care service which offers assessment, signposting and short term interventions to people with a neuropsychiatric condition which may arise as a result of head injury or other conditions such as Huntington’s disease.
The interventions provided are within a community or outpatient setting and aim to improve the quality of life for the service user and carer for example by decreasing psychological distress. Since the service provides only short term care of around 6 months this improvement is continued even after the service user has been discharged by liaising effectively with other services as well as charitable organisations to ensure continuity of care.
How to get Referred
Referrals to the team are discussed at a weekly MDT and are taken mainly from Consultant Psychiatrists or Neurologists as well as GPs. All referrals should be made to the team in writing however if you would like to discuss a referral or any other matters then please contact the team.
