Castleside Day Hospital is based at the Campus for Ageing and Vitality in Newcastle upon Tyne. Castleside has 25 places providing assessment, treatment and rehabilitation by a multi disciplinary health and social care team. Includes a memory management service providing assessment, treatment, diagnosis and monitoring of medication as per shared care protocols.
Older people’s day services are open Monday-Friday from approximately 9am-5pm (except bank holidays). The day services teams are specially trained staff with different roles and expertise.
Castleside is for older people with mental health problems arising from functional disorders such as depression, anxiety or psychosis and organic disorders such as dementia.
You can be referred by a Specialist Mental Health service, which is accessed through your GP.
