  • How can I register my event?

    Email us at [email protected] and a member of the team will be in touch shortly.

  • How do I set up an online fundraising page?

    Setting up an online fundraising page is quick and easy, making it simple for friends and family to sponsor you!

    We recommend using JustGiving for your fundraising page. Visit their website and follow the instructions. Select Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS FT Charity from the dropdown menu during the sign-up process.

    After creating your page, share your personal story to explain why you’re raising funds for our charity.

    If you are raising money for a specific ward or service, instead of our general SHINE fund, please state this in the fundraiser’s title.

  • Do you receive all the money raised through my online fundraising page?

    Most online giving platforms charge a small transaction fee. This fee is minimal and using these platforms remains a very cost-effective way to fundraise. If you wish to make a large donation, please contact our Charity Team for the best advice on how to proceed.

  • How do I get the funds from my page to you?

    Donations made through JustGiving are transferred directly to the charity within one week or one month (depending on how much is raised).

    This method is cost-effective for the charity and simplifies the process of collecting sponsorship for you.

  • Can I organise a fundraising event for Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS FT Charity and another charity jointly?

    You can but it’s important to ensure that your supporters know that the money is being split, and between which charities.

  • How do I fundraise offline?

    Run, bake, hike or host a party to raise funds for SHINE – however you want to fundraise, you can make a real impact.

  • Can you claim Gift Aid on the money I have raised?

    Donations from UK taxpayers are worth an extra 25p for every £1 donated at no extra cost to you!

    For us to claim Gift Aid, you need to ensure that the sponsor or donor is a UK taxpayer. Record their home address, postcode, donation amount, and make sure they tick the Gift Aid box on your sponsorship form or fundraising page.

    Please note that we cannot claim Gift Aid on ticket sales, raffle sales, corporate sponsorship, and the sale of goods or auction proceeds. Additionally, we cannot claim Gift Aid on payments from companies.

  • Can my donation go to a specific ward/department I choose?

    Yes, in addition to SHINE, our general fund, the charity also has over 30 individual funds for specific wards and services.

    If you’d like your donation to go to a specific ward or service rather than our general fund, let us know when making a donation online or in person.

  • Can you organise a cheque presentation for me?

    We would love to welcome you for a cheque presentation. Please contact us if you would like to arrange this by emailing [email protected]

  • I would like to share my story.

    We love to hear your fundraising stories and sharing them is a great way to encourage other supporters to fundraise and raise the profile of our charity. If you have a story to share, please contact us on [email protected] or contact us on our social media channels below.

  • I would like to volunteer for Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS FT

    Volunteering for us is a great way to make good use of your skills while supporting the hospital’s work. When you volunteer for the Trust, you can choose to support our charity by fundraising.

  • How do I set up a monthly donation?

    By setting up a regular gift today, you can help make a difference in the lives of thousands of patients, their families and carers. It’s quick and easy to do.

  • Where can I get matched giving?

    Many large organisations are willing to ‘match’ contributions made by their employees who are either making donations to, or fundraising on behalf of a charity, effectively doubling the donation. Check with your employer to see if they offer matched giving.
