Parenting events to support families in the Farsi community

Posted: 21/12/23

Families in the Farsi community will be able to access a programme of parenting events to help support their mental health.

Dr Mojtaba Shiri-Feshki, a consultant psychiatrist at Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust (CNTW), is hosting a series of free parenting events to help the Farsi community in the region.

In collaboration with Iranian Diaspora Association in Psychiatry (IDAP), the events cover a wide range of topics including helping children deal with bullying, managing anxiety, and what to do if your child is showing symptoms of ADHD.

The 10 events will run weekly, starting on Thursday 18 January 2024. All events are free and will take place at Walkergate Park in Newcastle.

Each session will include tea and coffee, guest speakers, question and answers, and role play of scenarios based on personal experiences.

Families are welcome to come to all sessions or attend the ones that are most applicable to them. For those who cannot attend in person, there will be a link available via Microsoft Teams to access the sessions remotely.
