I am a Consultant Medical Psychotherapist, and psychoanalytic psychotherapist. I qualified from Newcastle Medical School in 1997. I am Clinical Lead for the Regional Department of Psychotherapy in the Centre for Specialist Psychological Therapies, and Clinical Lead for the GP Health service in the North East and Cumbria. I hold specialist competencies in assessment and treatment of people with affective disorders, and people with personality difficulties. I have specialist knowledge and skills in assessment and treatment of health professionals. I offers psychoanalytic psychotherapy, interpersonal psychotherapy (IPT), brief psychodynamic psychotherapy, and dynamic interpersonal psychotherapy (DIT). I am an accredited Balint Leader, and I am the Clinical Lead for Schwartz Rounds in NTW. I am a clinical supervisor and medical appraiser, and have published and taught on the subjects of psychotherapy, psychotherapy research, reflective practice, and health for health professionals.
