GMC No: 4128669

After completing my undergraduate studies in Cambridge and the Royal London Hospital, I trained in psychiatry for seven years in South London and the Maudsley Hospital. In 2003 I moved to Newcastle and worked for seven years in the East Community Mental Health Team. In 2010 I started work in Rehabilitation and Recovery in the South of Tyne localities. My clinical work is now at Hopewood Park, on Clearbrook which is the NTW Female High Dependency Rehabilitation Unit.

Since 2003 I have been an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at Newcastle University with a focus on research. I am interested in changes to mental health services that have occurred in England, and particularly changes in rates of involuntary detention in hospitals since the 1980s. I am also involved in research trials investigating the treatment of schizophrenia. In 2017 I was appointed Associate Medical Director for inpatient services in the South Group.
