Dr Catarina Gois

I have studied Medicine in Portugal at the University of Coimbra having graduated in 2004. Following completion of Foundation Year I trained as a GP for two years before enrolling in Specialist Training in Psychiatry.

I have completed my training in Psychiatry with distinction between 2008 and 2014. My specialist training was undertaken at  the Hospital and University Centre of Coimbra in Portugal, and in April 2014 became and Associate Specialist.

I started working in UK in February 2015 when I became a Trust Doctor for NTW. Since then, I have worked as a Specialty Doctor in Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit, Acute In-patient wards and High Dependency Unit.

I became a consultant in 2017 and worked in the Crisis Resolution Team until October 2018. Between 2018 and April 2022 I worked as a consultant on an acute male inpatient ward. My current post is with the Forensics Community Team. 

I have been a trainer for Foundation Doctors, Psychiatry Core Trainees and GP Trainees. I provided supervision to International Fellow doctors and have recently become a Mentor and an Appraiser.

I am Approved Clinician under Section 12 of the MHA and a Clinical Supervisor for restricted patients under part 3 of the MHA.
