I completed specialist training in general adult psychiatry and substance misuse and have extensive experience working as a Consultant in Forensic services from 2009-2015.

I am currently a Consultant Psychiatrist in the Newcastle Addiction service and am regional addiction psychiatry lead for the North East Prison Estate.

I am an elected member of the Executive Committee of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, Faculty of Addictions (2016)

In my last post I was an educational supervisor and clinical supervisor for core and specialty trainees and am currently an examiner for the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

My research interests include improving access to treatment for patients with comorbidity, complex needs and treatment resistant disorders and have completed studies in these areas.

I am leading on the development of guidance for the management of New Psychoactive Substances across the prison estate and am involved in research into New Psychoactive Substances and their impact on mental health.

I am a General Medical Council health assessor and medical supervisor.
