Dr Wai Shun Wilson Cheng

GMC No: 6048633

I am currently in full time employment with Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne & Wear NHS Foundation Trust.  I am currently working as a consultant psychiatrist in the North East and North Cumbria Community Forensic Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (FCAMHS).  The service delivers forensic consultation, assessment and in some instances specialist intervention and treatment across the area to young people up to the age of 18 years with forensic mental health needs.

I have been working exclusively in the field of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry since August 2008.  I gained my basic medical degree at the University of Edinburgh, graduating in 2002, and became a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2007.  I have a Master of Laws in Child Law (Northumbria University, pass with commendation) in 2010.   My clinical interest is the interface between mental health and children legislation and their application to children and young people with learning disabilities.  I have publications in several different journals, including the Family Law Journal.
