GMC No: 6102565
I was born and brought up in Newcastle upon Tyne, and schooled locally in state schools in Walbottle. I went to Newcastle University Medical School in 1999, and graduated with a Distinction in 2004. I completed my Foundation training within Northumbria Trust, before working in acute psychiatry in Sydney Australia for a year. On return to the UK I started specialty training in General Practice in 2007, before starting Core Psychiatry training within the Northern Deanery in 2009. I completed all membership examinations at the first attempt and got my MRCPsych in 2012. I completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Research also in 2012 after pursuing my interest in academic psychiatry. I began higher training in Old Age Psychiatry in 2012, working in Northumberland and in Gateshead. I had some time out of higher training to have my two sons in 2013 and 2016. On returning to work I developed my interest in liaison old age psychiatry and medical education, both of which became key parts of my consultant practice. I was successful in getting a consultant post in Liaison Old Age Psychiatry in Northumberland in January 2018. This post has 6 clinical sessions and 2 sessions of medical education for my roles as the NTW Higher Trainee Tutor and NTW Foundation Tutor which I was appointed to early in my consultant post. My areas of clinical interest are Delirium and Dementia with Lewy Bodies, and I continue to have a keen interest in both medical education and research. I am also interested in service development and would like to develop my medical leadership skills. I spend most of my time outside of work with my two little boys and we have very busy weekends visiting lots of places around the north east and doing lots of activities. I am also a keen runner, regularly completing the great north run and aspiring to run a marathon!
