Graduated MBChB, Glasgow University July 1991, and did my basic psychiatric training in Glasgow until 1996. Gained my membership to the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 1996, when I moved to Manchester to gain my senior training in Adolescent Forensic Psychiatry. In 2001 gained this consultant job in this trust, and have worked in the Adolescent in-patient Medium Secure service since that time. I am the longest serving consultant in these type of services nationally.
I have a professional interest in Psychosis and developing personality disorders and developmental trauma, and a growing interest in Autism related to forensic issues.
I am also Training Programme Director for CAMHS in the North East, CNTW College tutor for CYPS, Clinical and educational supervisor for a number of trainees at any one time, as well as LNC rep representing my CYPS consultant colleagues. I also offer supervision and CYPS clinical input to the court liaison and diversion service.
