I received my medical degree from the Faculty of Medicine, Alexandria University in 2004.I started my psychiatry residency training in 2008 at Ain Shams University Institute of Psychiatry. After finishing the residency training and my master’s degree in Neuropsychiatry in 2010, I was listed in the Egyptian psychiatrists specialist register. I passed MRCPsych exams and became a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2013. I worked at Psychological medicine hospital, an independent psychiatry hospital in Cairo in the years 2010-2015. Initially as a specialist psychiatrist, and later as a consultant psychiatrist. I took up the position of Medical director of the hospital in January 2013 until leaving the hospital in December 2015. I worked in different departments in the hospital both inpatients and outpatients, treating working age patients and at times working in the addictions department. I moved to the UK in 2016 where I started working in NTW as a specialty doctor. For the first year I worked in the adult ADHD specialist service, before moving on to Psychiatric ICU in Hopewood Park.
