I qualified in India from Rajiv Gandhi University and came here to pursue a career in Psychiatry. I did my core training in York and moved up to the area to do my Higher Specialty training in Psychiatry of Intellectual disability. I was appointed as Consultant for West and Central Northumberland in August 2015. I have a special interest in Autism – diagnosis and management. I am ADOS and ADI(R) trained and my plan in the longer term is to get involved with the Autism Diagnostic Service.While as SpR, I got involved with the Perinatal Mental Health Services’ as I was particularly interested in parents, who have an Intellectual Disability and mothers, who are on the autistic spectrum. I have good experience in dealing with complex problems that parenting brings to this patient group. I am an avid sportsperson and regularly play badminton and squash. I am also an Arsenal fan and love watching the poetry in motion on show at the Emirates from time to time. Another of my hobbies is wildlife photography and my claim to fame is being chased by a tiger and living to tell the tale!
