I Qualified in medicine in 1986 and obtained MB Bch from Ain Shams University in Cairo. I am registered as a Medical Practitioner with the Egyptian Health Ministry since February 1987 and I have been on the Specialists Register in Psychiatry and Neurology at the Egyptian Syndicate since February 1992. I started practicing psychiatry in Egypt in May 1989 as a Resident and later Assistant Specialist (similar to Specialist Registrar) in Psychiatry in Abbasia Hospital (This is main Psychiatric hospital in Egypt till July 1995.I obtained Master Degree in Psychiatry and Neurology in November 1991 from Ain Shams University in Cairo.  I came to the UK in July 1995, and I am fully registered with the General Medical Council since 1997. I have worked as a Psychiatric Senior House Officer for the next four years and I completed eight jobs.

I worked as a Staff Grade Psychiatrist in Secure Services of East Sussex between August 1999 and June 2005. I passed the MRCPsych exam in July 2004 and became a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.  I became a Specialist Registrar (SpR) in Learning Disabilities in the Northern Region of England between June 2005 and December 2008. I received the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Learning Disability in 2009. I started Consultant Psychiatrist Learning Disability in South Tyneside in January 2009 and has been in the post since then. I have special interest in Neurodevelopmental Conditions including Autism and ADHD and I have been part of the Adult ASD Diagnostic teams for several years. I also have special interest in Epilepsy in Intellectual Disabilities.
