Cleadon – Information for referrers

A ward providing Mental Health assessment and treatment for older people who are physically frail in Sunderland and South Tyneside.

  • Introduction

    Cleadon is an inpatient unit based at Monkwearmouth Hospital in Sunderland.

    Cleadon has 18 beds providing assessment and treatment by a multi disciplinary health and social care team. We support patients with a range of different treatments and therapies.

    Occupational Therapists
    Pharmacists
    Physiotherapists
    Arts Therapists
    Psychologists
    Speech and Language Therapists
    Social Workers

  • Who is Cleadon for?

    Cleadon is for older people with mental health problems arising from functional disorders such as depression, anxiety or psychosis.

  • Who can I refer?

    We accept referrals from mental health teams and via GP referral.

  • How do I make a referral?
