Transcultural Psychiatry

Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust are delighted to announce that we will be organising our very first Transcultural Psychiatry CPD event on 24 October 2019. This CPD programme is a full day, offering free car parking, lunch and refreshments.

We would like to invite you to this event exploring both fundamental and emerging issues in transcultural psychiatry. We recognise that we live in a diverse socio-cultural environment and that psychiatry is rooted in culture. In this event, we would like to address both the available conceptual frameworks and clinically relevant subjects.

Topics will include:

•Transcultural psychiatry as a specialism
•Gender dysphoria and cultural contexts and challenges
•Retention and Recruitment in psychiatry, International Fellowship programme and Fellows’ experiences of entering and surviving the NHS culture
•Cultural Competency as an important dimension to developing mental health services
•Intimate partner violence: a cross cultural perspective
•A practical session dealing with cultural issues and formulation in the clinical context

A full and final programme will follow shortly.

An early bird rate of £60 per head is being offered to all applications fully processed before 31 August 2019. Thereafter the charge will be £99 per person.
