I am an academic old age psychiatrist working in Newcastle University. My research interests are now solely in dementia, predominantly that due to Lewy body disease. I no longer provide direct clinical care for patients but remain active in the development of clinical diagnosis and management guidelines to improve practice and patient experience.
Qualifying in 1977, I completed my training in Newcastle and have remained here apart from a brief period at the NIH, MD, USA in the 1980s.
Between 2005 and 2015 I built up the NIHR Clinical Research Network in Dementia and Neurodegenerative Diseases (DeNDRoN) which delivers clinical trials across our disease areas.
